Carín León and Kacey Musgraves joined forces on a new collaborative single. Out today from the pair is the gripping track, “Lost In Translation.”
Kacey Musgraves, who was born and raised in Texas, initially found León by watching his Tiny Desk Concert and was inspired to work with him. “Growing up singing traditional country and western music,” Musgraves explained, “I’ve always loved exploring the borders of Country and where it blends with other styles like Norteño and some regional Mexican sounds that I heard a lot of in Texas.”
Carín León discovered in Musgraves a peer who shared his enthusiasm for blending traditional and modern music. “I relate my career and hers in the way that she approaches other genres,” León added.
The duo met up in Nashville with producer Julian Bunetta to record the track. Musgraves was joined by fellow songwriters Amy Allen and Shane McAnally, while León brought his band.
The result was “Lost In Translation,” a song that tells the tale of two people connecting despite a linguistic divide. “This really cute idea came about these people meeting and not being able to speak the same language, but love language and body language is universal and you don’t really need words for that,” Musgraves said.
