Bruce Springsteen Welcomes Guests For Marathon ‘The River Tour’ Closer In Foxborough

One of the more impressive runs of legendary rocker Bruce Springsteen‘s 40+ year career came to a close last night at Gillette Stadium in Foxborough, Massachusetts. Springsteen and the E Street Band’s performance ran over four hours again and featured a handful of guests including a local legend.
The Boss and his band started the 75th and final show of The River Tour 2016 with help from Sam Bardfeld’s string section on “New York City Serenade.” Springsteen then launched into “Prove It All Night,” complete with the ’78-style intro. It was then on to a string of golden oldies as Bruce played six songs in a row from his 1973 debut studio effort Greetings from Asbury Park, N.J. including “Does This Bus Stop At 82nd Street?,” “Blinded By The Light” and “It’s Hard To Be A Saint In The City.”
A run of early Bruce classics continued with “Kitty’s Back,” “Incident On 57th Street” and “Rosalita (Come Out Tonight)” off his sophomore studio album The Wild, The Innocent & The E Street Shuffle. Next, the band’s cover of “Boom Boom” by John Lee Hooker made its U.S. tour premiere thanks to a sign in the audience. Other songs trotted out last night for the first time on this U.S. leg were “Radio Nowhere,” the “Detroit Medley” and “Light Of Day.”
Bruce Springsteen And The E Street Band focused on the “hits” towards the end of the evening including “The Promised Land,” “Badlands,” “Jungleland,” “Born To Run,” “Dancing In The Dark” and “Tenth Avenue Freeze-Out.” Longtime Springsteen friend and Boston (and beyond) rock legend Peter Wolf emerged late in the night to help out on a cover of “Shout.” The Boss & Co. then brought the show to a close with the tour premiere of “Rockin’ All Over The World” by John Fogerty and the Born In The U.S.A. classic “Bobby Jean.”
