Bruce Springsteen Opens Vault For ‘Vancouver 2005’ Solo Concert Live Archival Release

Bruce Springsteen resumes his Live Archive Series with the release of Vancouver 2005. The 26-song recording captures The Boss’ piano-driven solo performance from his tour stop on August 13, 2005 at the Pontiac Theatre at GM Place in Vancouver.

The Vancouver 2005 concert was the last show of Springsteen’s summer tour in support of his 2005 album Devils & Dust. Bruce Springsteen took the stage alone each night and performed on various instruments. In Vancouver, he played electric and acoustic guitars, ukulele, harmonica, piano, electric piano and pump organ.

Springsteen’s Devils & Dust Tour is beloved by fans for its wide-ranging setlists. The Boss took it to a new level in Vancouver by dusting off one rarity after another. Bruce’s son Evan served as guitar tech for the evening to make the night even more special.

Bruce Springsteen set the tone by opening with the recently revived Lucky Town standout “Living Proof,” which has only been played twice since 2005, on pump organ. The tour’s lone “Because The Night” followed a few songs later to the delight of the crowd.

Next, Springsteen moved to grand piano for “The Promise” and “The River.” Later, “Real World” and “Jesus Was An Only Son” were played on piano, while “Janey, Don’t You Lose Heart,” “Paradise” and “4th Of July, Asbury Park (Sandy)” and the aforementioned “Because The Night” featured The Boss on electric piano. The Vancouver 2005 “Paradise” still stands as Springsteen’s most recent performance of the song.

Other highlights included “State Trooper,” “Ain’t Got You,” “Cynthia” and the first ever performance of “Blinded By The Light” in Canada. Vancouver ’05 can be streamed now exclusively via the nugs.net app. CDs and high-resolution downloads are also available for purchase.
