Bruce Springsteen performed at the ceremony held today at the World Trade Center memorial plaza in New York City to mark the 20th anniversary of the September 11, 2001 terrorist attacks. Springsteen’s unannounced appearance featured a rendition of “I’ll See You in My Dreams,” the final song on his 2020 album Letter to You.

According to the Associated Press, “President Joe Biden, former Presidents Barack Obama and Bill Clinton, members of Congress, and other dignitaries” attended the ceremony. The gathering also included relatives of the victims of the 2001 terrorist attack that took down the two World Trade Center towers.

“May god bless our fallen brothers and sisters,” Springsteen said. “Their families. Their friends. And their loved ones.”
