Bruce Hornsby & The Noisemakers updated the schedule for their recently resumed Spirit Trail 25th Anniversary Tour. Four concerts have been rescheduled while two others were canceled after Hornsby developed a vocal issue affecting his ability to sing and speak.
The problem came to a head on Saturday night in Kingston, New York during the second show of the summer run. “Toward the end of our first concert Thursday night in Plymouth, MA I started feeling a slight vocal deterioration, enough to decide to have a silent off-day on Friday,” Hornsby wrote. “Saturday’s soundcheck arrived and I still felt there was an issue, and sure enough there was, and I had a vocally difficult time on an otherwise very strong band night in Kingston. By the last half of the gig I had lost my lower and upper range and was just gutting it out, caressing and being careful to try to keep it at least semi-acceptable. By the end my voice was virtually gone, shot, and damaged.”

Bruce Hornsby & The Noisemakers cleared their schedule through July 11, when the tour is expected to resume in Grand Rapids, Michigan. The band canceled shows in Upstate New York originally planned for Albany on July 4 and Hammondsport on July 6. A concert previously scheduled for June 30 in Westhampton Beach will now take place on September 6 with tonight’s show (July 2) in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania has been moved to September 4. Additionally, Hornsby & The Noisemakers postponed concerts slated to be held in North Tonawanda, New York and Akron, Ohio to October 7 and 8 respectively.
Tickets for the postponed shows will be honored on the rescheduled dates. Those holding tickets for the canceled dates are advised to reach out to the point of purchase for refunds.
