While the big news from last night’s episode of The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon was the host splitting monologue duties with the show’s former host Jay Leno, Wednesday’s installment also saw Bruce Hornsby and Noisemakers drummer Sonny Emory sit-in with The Roots. Hornsby and Emory augmented The Roots during commercial breaks throughout the episode.
Bruce played Appalachian Dulcimer on The Tonight Show as he does on the new Bruce Hornsby & The Noisemakers album Rehab Reunion which is due Friday. Sonny utilized a washboard to add percussion to the mix. The Roots, Hornsby and Emory performed bits of songs from Rehab Reunion as well as “The Way It Is.” Check out the full episode below and watch for Bruce and Sonny before and after commercial breaks. The pair get their introduction around the 9:30 mark and collaborate with The Roots on “The Way It Is” around 29:30.
