Brothers Osborne contributed to the Bobby Rahal: True American Racer (Inspired By) Soundtrack, presented by Big Machine Racing Productions. Siblings TJ & John Osborne revved up a rendition of the Tom Petty classic “Runnin’ Down A Dream” for the film.
Directed by Nate Adams, Travis Long and Scott Borchetta, Bobby Rahal: True American Racer traces the life of the motorsports legend and his quest to win the Indy 500 for team owner Jim Trueman, who was battling terminal cancer. Bobby Rahal: True American Racer is streaming now on Tubi.
The soundtrack to the film features Riley Green, The Jack Wharff Band, Mackenzie Carpenter, Greylan James, Marfa, Cole Goodwin, Danielle Bradbery and Rascal Flatts. Guitar great Slash also contributed to “True American Racer (500 miles),” backed by Billy Bob Thornton and Mark Collie‘s The Backbeat Troubadours.
Brothers Osborne handled the “Runnin’ Down A Dream” cover for True American Racer. TJ Osborne leads the song appearing on Tom Petty’s 1989 debut solo album Fever Moon with a smoking guitar solo from John Osborne. Listen below:
