Brooklyn Comes Alive Confirms 2018 Lineup

As reported, the 2018 installment of Brooklyn Comes Alive will feature dozens of musicians coming together in intriguing pairings at Brooklyn Bowl, the Music Hall Of Williamsburg and Rough Trade in Williamsburg on September 29. Today, organizers of the event have revealed the lineup for Brooklyn Comes Alive ’18.
A number of tributes will be a part of the event including Purple Party: A Tribute To Prince, In Honor Of Col. Bruce Hampton, Butch Trucks, Gregg Allman & Those We’ve Lost… and A Tribute To Steely Dan. The Prince tribute will feature Prince’s final bassist MonoNeon along with Robert “Sput” Searight (Snarky Puppy, Ghost Note), Nate Werth (Snarky Puppy, Ghost Note), Chris Bullock (Snarky Puppy), Mike “Maz” Maher, (Snarky Puppy), Ryan Jalbert (The Motet), Lyle Divinsky (The Motet), Steve Swatkins (Allen Stone Band), Shira Elias (Turkuaz), Sammi Garett (Turkuaz), Will Trask (Great American Taxi) and Megan Letts (Mama Magnolia). Minnesota native Casey Russell of The Magic Beans has been tapped as musical director.
The In Honor Of Col. Bruce Hampton, Butch Trucks, Gregg Allman & Those We’ve Lost… will feature bassist George Porter Jr. (The Meters), guitarists Brandon “Taz” Niederauer and Adam Smirnoff (Lettuce), drummer Jeff Sipe (Aquarium Rescue Unit), keyboardist Peter Levin (Gregg Allman Band) and vocalist Elise Testone (Brandon “Taz” Niederauer Band). A Tribute To Steely Dan will find musical director Joey Porter (The Motet) leading Nick Cassarino (The Nth Power), Nate Edgar (The Nth Power), Michelangelo Carubba (Turkuaz), Tim Palmieri (Kung Fu), Werth (Snarky Puppy, Ghost Note), Chris Bullock (Snarky Puppy), Mike “Maz” Maher (Snarky Puppy), Lyle Divinsky (The Motet), Hayley Jane (Hayley Jane & The Primates) and Garett (Turkuaz).
Also aboard are the Adam Deitch Quartet featuring the Lettuce drummer along with Wil Blades and his Lettuce band mates Ryan Zoidis and Eric “Benny” Bloom. Meanwhile, NOLA drumming legend Johnny Vidacovich will team with Bloom and Robert Walter for a trio performance. Another supergroup will find the Disco Biscuits bassist Marc “Brownie” Brownstein along with Break Science keyboardist Borahm Lee, Dumpstaphunk drummer Alvin Ford Jr. and Rebelution multi-instrumentalist Khris Royal.

BCA ’18 will additionally include a performance from a quintet made up of Nikki Glaspie (The Nth Power), Scott Metzger (Joe Russo’s Almost Dead, WOLF!), MonoNeon (Prince, Ghost Note), Skerik and Cory Henry (formerly of Snarky Puppy, Funk Apostles). Lettuce bassist Erick “Jesus” Coomes will present Baby Jesus Peasant Party featuring Borahm Lee, Ryan Zoidis, Khris Royal and Tyler Coomes, while Marco Benevento bassist Karina Rykman will lead a Karina Rykman Experiment set featuring special guests Robert Walter and Dave Harrington. Other sets scheduled for BCA ’18 include the original trio lineup of Dopapod, Shira Elias’ Soul Tracks, Katharis and the Switch Hitters. Check out the full lineup and groupings below.
New to Brooklyn Comes Alive this year is a comedy set. Wokes With Jokes: Stand-Up Comedy About The Jamband Scene will feature Brett Siddell, Walker Berry, Ariella Wallen, Pamela Mahler and MC Richie Alfson. Another new addition is the Jam Room Presented By Jam Cruise with details of the staple event from the floating adventure at sea to be revealed soon. Ari Fink of SiriusXM wills serve as host for BCA ’18.

Tickets are on sale now via Eventbrite. Attendees will receive a wristband allowing access to all three venues.
