Umphrey’s McGee guitarist Brendan Bayliss and former Yonder Mountain String Band mandolinist Jeff Austin are reviving their 30db project for one concert next month. 30db will perform at Marytrs’ in Chicago on Friday, May 11.
The pair has only played one night in December each year between 2015 and 2017. Bayliss and Austin issued their lone 30db album, One Man Show, in 2010. That year, the duo recruited a full band for a tour in support of the LP. Brendan and Jeff have only performed together a handful of times since ’10 including their traditional December shows. This past December’s gig at Martyrs’ featured a number of songs from One Man Show as well as choice covers such as Wilco’s “Handshake Drugs,” “We’re Going To Be Friends” by The White Stripes and Modest Mouse’s “The Good Times Are Killing Me.”
