Brandon “Taz” Niederauer Tackles ‘Little Wing’ For Straturday In NYC

On Saturday New York City’s Museum of Modern Art hosted an event dubbed “Straturday” in which a variety of guitarists performed using only the museum’s 1957 Fender Stratocaster plugged into its 1959 Fender Bassman amp, live in the exhibition gallery. A guitar prodigy we’ve had our eyes on for the past few years, Brandon “Taz” Niederauer, who is currently starring in School Of Rock on Broadway, kicked off Straturday.

Niederauer’s performance was followed by brief sets featuring Steve Gunn, Sarah Lipstate (Noveller), W. G. Snuffy Walden, Sadie Dupuis (Speedy Ortiz) and Steve Marion (Delicate Steve). Brandon delivered a cover of Jimi Hendrix’s “Little Wing” that was equal parts soaring and shredding. JamBase contributor Jeremy Gordon captured all but the final notes of the performance. Watch:
