Brandi Carlile held a sold-out concert at Madison Square Garden in New York City on Saturday night where she would welcome fellow The Highwomen band mates Amanda Shires and Natalie Hemby as well as the legendary Mavis Staples.

Carlile kicked off the show with “Hold Out Your Hand” followed by “Wherever Is Your Heart,” “Hard Way Home” and “The Story.” Carlile would then bring out Staples for a cover of Pops Staples’ “Friendship.” Shires and Hemby would then join Carlile for a trio of The Highwomen songs, “Highwomen” with Mavis singing Yola’s part. Staples then left the three Highwomen (Maren Morris was absent] to offer takes on “If She Ever Leaves Me” and “Redesigning Women.”

Carlile would continue with “The Eye,” “Raise Hell” and “Fulton County Jane Doe.” The singer-songwriter would then jump into some cover material with Joni Mitchell’s “A Case Of You” and Led Zeppelin’s “Babe, I’m Gonna Leave You.” “The Mother and “The Joke” followed ahead of the set closer “Pride And Joy.”

Carlile reemerged for an encore of “Mainstream Kid” and “Party Of One.” Check out audience-shot video captured by Mojo Music Philly of the Staples sit-in as well as The Highwomen segment below:
