Those holding Super VIP passes for this past weekend’s Lockn’ Festival in Arrington, Virginia were able to catch a handful of sets at the event’s Super VIP tent. One such set was billed as “a very special hour with Bob Weir and Phil Lesh.” The Grateful Dead band mates were joined by a drummer Joe Russo for the majority of their Super VIP set on Saturday night.
Phil and Bobby took the intimate stage and started with duo renditions of “Me & My Uncle” and “Looks Like Rain.” At that point Russo emerged and stuck around for the remainder of the set. The trio served up “Deep Elem Blues” followed by Little Feat’s “Easy To Slip” and the Garcia/Hunter favorite “Loose Lucy.” Phil’s son Grahame Lesh then came out to add to “Lazy River Road.” It was back to a trio for “West L.A. Fadeaway.” Grahame returned for “Bird Song” and his Midnight North band mate Elliott Peck was also on stage for the set-closing “Mountains Of The Moon.”
