Bob Weir, Margo Price, The Highwomen and Jason Isbell were among the performers at a BMI-hosted ceremony honoring Dwight Yoakam last night in Nashville. The 67th annual BMI Country Awards saw Yoakam receive the prestigous BMI President’s Award for having “distinctly and profoundly influenced the music industry.”

Held at BMI’s office in Nashville, the event also featured a performance by Jon Pardi of Yoakam’s of “Guitars, Cadillacs.” The Highwomen — the supergroup of Maren Morris, Brandi Carlile, Natalie Hemby and Amanda Shires — were joined on guitar by Shires husband Isbell on Yoakam’s “A Thousand Miles From Nowhere.” Price teamed with Weir — as they previously did at an event honoring John Prine — to perform Yoakam’s “Fast As You.”

The 2019 BMI Country Awards included the inaugural Evergreen Award bestowed upon the song “Rocky Top,” which was written by BMI writers Felice Bryant and Boudleaux Bryant. View the full list of last night’s winners here.
