Bob Weir Joins JD Souther In Tennessee

Renowned singer-songwriter JD Souther welcomed Grateful Dead guitarist Bob Weir during the former’s concert at The Franklin Theatre near Nashville on Friday. Weir joined Souther for a song JD co-wrote with the Eagles as well as a Jimmy Reed number.
Bobby’s been busy in Tennesse this past week. On Tuesday, Weir joined Sammy Hagar & The Circle at Nashville’s storied Ryman Auditorium for a GD-related Buddy Holly & The Crickets number as well as a Led Zeppelin classic. kicked off their spring tour at the Ryman the following night, which featured guest spots from Wynonna, Margo Price, longtime Willie Nelson harmonica player Mickey Raphael and more. Wolf Bros then hit Memphis where they unveiled “Jailhouse Rock,” penned by the renowned songwriting duo of Jerry Leiber and Mike Stoller and made iconic by famed Memphis resident Elvis Presley.
With some time off before Wolf Bros next show in Tulsa, Weir stuck around in Tennessee where he joined Souther’s solo acoustic performance on Friday night. Bobby added electric guitar to the Souther co-penned Eagles hit “Heartache Tonight.” Weir also sang harmony with JD on the chorus. Bobby stayed on for a cover of Jimmy Reed’s “Baby What You Want Me to Do.”
