Bob Weir To Appear With Jackie Greene Band At Hometown Birthday Show

As reported, tomorrow night Jackie Greene will celebrate his 36th birthday with a special hometown concert in San Francisco. A number of special guests will join the Jackie Greene Band at The Warfield tomorrow night, including the newly confirmed addition of Grateful Dead guitarist Bob Weir.

Along with Weir, the Jackie Green Band will also be joined by Grateful Dead bassist Phil Lesh. Also expected to perform with the group are the newly added vocalist Nicki Bluhm, as well as guitarists Mark Karan and Ross James, and multi-instrumentalist Jason Crosby. Tickets for Greene’s birthday celebration and first headlining show at The Warfield are on sale now via AXS.

If Bobby and Phil share the stage at The Warfield tomorrow it would be one of the few times they’ve done so since the last Fare Thee Well concert in Chicago on July 5, 2015. Last November Weir and Lesh teamed up at a Midnight North performance in New York City, sitting-in together on a number of tunes. The two founding members of the Grateful Dead also performed a set together in May of this year at the opening of the Terrapin Crossroads Back Porch stage in San Rafael, California. Here’s a clip of Bob and Phil sitting-in with the Jackie Greene Band on “Scarlet Begonias” in 2009, captured by zeuseighty:
