Bob Weir And Billy & The Kids ‘Let It Grow’ At Lockn’ Festival

Last Saturday Bob Weir teamed up with Billy & The Kids for an impressive set at this year’s Lockn’ Festival in Arrington, Virginia. Band leader Bill Kreutzmann has shared official audio of one of the highlights from the set for our listening pleasure.

Towards the middle of Bobby Billy & The Kids’ nine-song set, the ensemble tore into “Let It Grow” from Weir’s famed “Weather Report Suite.” Bobby was in fine voice, while guitarist Tom Hamilton absolutely shreds his solo. Add in creative keyboard work from Aron Magner, the unusual approach of bassist Reed Mathis and Kreutzmann’s steady hand and we have ourselves one of the better versions of “Let It Grow” to be played in recent years.

Tonight Billy & The Kids play the iconic Red Rocks Amphitheatre in Morrison, Colorado. The band’s set as well as performances from Snarky Puppy and Railroad Earth can be viewed live via a Nugs.TV webcast.
