Bob Dylan completed the Fall 2025 European leg of his Rough And Rowdy Ways Tour on Tuesday at 3Arena in Dublin. The Nobel laureate closed the concert and tour with a cover of “A Rainy Night In Soho” by famed Celtic rockers The Pogues.
Dylan debuted his cover of “A Rainy Night In Soho” earlier this year while on tour with Willie Nelson‘s traveling Outlaw Music Festival. A mutual respect has long existed between Dylan, The Pogues and their frontman Shane MacGowan.
In 1989, Dylan invited The Pogues to open for him on his North American Tour. MacGowan, however, collapsed in London’s Heathrow Airport as the band was about to embark. The Pogues ended up doing the tour without Shane.
Over 30 years later, when Dylan came to Dublin in 2022, MacGowan was on hand and Bob acknowledged him as “one of our favorite artists.” Shane MacGowan passed away on November 30, 2023.
Upon Dylan’s premiere of “A Rainy Night In Soho” in May 2025, Shane’s sister Siobhan MacGowan stated that the cover “would mean the world to [Shane],” and added, “When I was a kid I listened to the constant sound of Bob Dylan playing in Shane’s room.”
Dylan fittingly delivered “A Rainy Night In Soho” for the second time last night in Dublin to wrap his tour. Listen to the performance below via nightly moth:
