Recorded and mixed by Tucker Martine (The Decemberists, Death Cab For Cutie, Laura Veirs) in Portland this fall, EP is the first Blind Pilot release to feature all six touring members of the band: Israel Nebeker (vocals, guitar), Luke Ydstie (upright bass, vocals), Dave Jorgensen (trumpet, Rhodes piano, harmonium), Kati Claborn (dulcimer, banjo, vocals), Ian Krist (vibraphone), and Ryan Dobrowski (drums).
Blind Pilot has long been an iTunes favorite. Their song “Go On, Say It,” off their debut full-length 3 Rounds and a Sound (Expunged Records), was chosen as iTunes’ Single of the Week when the album was released last year.
The band recently finished an extensive headlining U.S. club tour, which included sold out shows in Los Angeles, San Francisco (read the review here), New York City, Seattle, Austin, Portland, Denver, San Diego, Boise, Vancouver, Pittsburgh, Indianapolis, and Atlanta. December 6 marked the end of nearly a year of touring in support of 3 Rounds and a Sound, which earned the band performances on national radio (NPR‘s Morning Edition and All Songs Considered), national television (Last Call with Carson Daly) and a spot on this year’s bill for the esteemed NPR Music Showcase at SXSW in Austin, TX.
The album also received praise from USA Today, the Boston Globe, the New York Post, Wired, AM New York, and the Philadelphia Inquirer, which calls the music “…rustic reverie.”
