Cameroonian Sensation Blick Bassy Delivers Emotional Set ‘Live On KEXP’
Watch the composer lead his band through four songs from his latest album, Mádibá.

Music lovers don’t need to speak the Baasa language of Cameroon to get hit in the feels by Blick Bassy‘s stirring compositions. The Cameroonian singer-songwriter recently brought his world tour in support of his excellent 2023 album, entitled Mádibá , to Seattle for performances at The Sunset Tavern in the studios of public radio station KEXP.
Blick Bassy’s Live On KEXP session featured four cuts from Mádibá, which was reissued in deluxe format on May 17 by the renowned French label InFiné as Mádibá Ni Mbondi. Arno De Casanove (trumpet, synth) and Romain Jovion joined Blick Bassy (guitar, vocals) live in the KEXP studio on May 8.

The trio dug in on “LoBa” to start the set. Bassy’s gorgeous vocals were on display on the tender “Hola Mè” that followed. The ensemble picked up the pace with “Bissaï” and chose the infectious “Li Yanga” to wrap the performance portion of the session.
