Blackberry Smoke Welcomes Leslie West For ‘Mississippi Queen’ In New York City

Southern rockers Blackberry Smoke brought their tour in support of Like An Arrow to the Beacon Theatre in New York City on Friday night. The band was joined by one of their inspirations, Leslie West of Mountain, for his big hit “Mississippi Queen.”
Blackberry Smoke presented a lengthy set that pulled from every era of the group’s existence. They did focus on material from their best-selling LP, 2012’s The Whippoorwill. New York City native Leslie West emerged in a wheelchair towards the middle of the show and took a spot in the middle of the stage with his guitar in hand. West engaged in a bit of a jam with the BBS fellas before they all launched into 1970 rock classic “Mississippi Queen.” Leslie shared vocals and dueled with Blackberry Smoke frontman Charlie Starr on Mountain’s most beloved song.
