Blackberry Smoke Delivers Star-Studded All-Covers Show At Inaugural High Tide Getaway

Blackberry Smoke treated attendees at the first-ever High Tide Getaway to a special set on Monday for their second of three headlining shows. The hosts of the all-inclusive concert vacation at Dreams Sapphire Resort in Riviera Cancun, Mexico were joined by other High Tide Getaway artists for select songs during a performance consisting solely of covers.

The 16-song concert began with Blackberry Smoke covering James Gang’s “Walk Away” and “Southern Child” by Little Richard. Next, Little Feat guitarist Scott Sharrard helped the band celebrate the late Gregg Allman’s birthday by leading a take on the Allman Brothers classic “Ain’t Wastin’ Time No More.”

Blackberry Smoke then rolled through The Marshall Tucker Band’s “24 Hours At A Time” before Elizabeth Cook contributed to a cover of Steve Earle’s “Copperhead Road.” The band devoted the next portion of the set to soul songs as they played Sam & Dave’s “I Thank You” and The Temptations’ “Just My Imagination (Running Away With Me).”

The Georgia-bred rockers brought out Band Of Heathens' Ed Jurdi to lend a hand on Tom Petty’s “You Wreck Me.” Jurdi also sat-in on a cover of The Band’s “Ophelia” featuring additional special guests JJ Grey, Little Feat keyboardist Bill Payne and Band Of Heathens co-hort Gordy Quist. Grey then led BBS through Lynyrd Skynyrd’s “On The Hunt” ahead of a Bill Payne-assisted take on “You Can’t Always Get What You Want.” Blackberry Smoke hadn’t played the Rolling Stones cover since 2022, which was the biggest bust out of the night as per Setlist.FM statistics.

The Monday afternoon set on the Beach Stage concluded with The Beatles’ “She Came In Through The Bathroom Window,” Tom Petty’s “You Got Lucky” and Black Sabbath’s “Children Of The Grave.” Blackberry Smoke went on to cap the show with an “I Am The Man Of Constant Sorrow” encore.
