The Black Crowes landed in their home state of Georgia on Saturday for a concert at the recently opened Atrium Health Amphitheater in Macon. Longtime area resident and band collaborator, legendary keyboardist Chuck Leavell joined brothers Chris Robinson and Rich Robinson and their bandmates for an extensive sit-in.
Leavell, who was a member of The Allman Brothers Band and currently serves as musical director as a touring member of The Rolling Stones, made significant contributions to The Black Crowes breakout 1990 debut album, Shake Your Money Maker. Leavell and The Black Crowes are both members of the Georgia Music Hall Of Fame.

Leavell has lived on a tree farm near Macon for decades, becoming a highly regarded, award-winning forester. His appearance on Saturday at Atrium Health Amphitheater saw him join The Crowes on five songs from Shake Your Money Maker. Leavell added his signature keyboards to “Seeing Things,” “Stare It Cold,” “Hard To Handle,” “She Talks To Angels” and “Jealous Again.”
Leavell came back out during the encore to play a familiar song, lending his keyboard skills to The Rolling Stones’ “Rocks Off.” View video clips posted by attendees of Saturday’s show below:
