Billy Strings Joins Umphrey’s McGee In Asheville

Umphrey’s McGee rolled through Asheville, North Carolina on Friday night. Billy Strings joined the band for a couple tunes.

Umphrey’s played “Goonville,” the first one since August, lookout blissful guitar harmonies, good stuff, right into it with “Crucial Taunt” and “Mad Love” followed by “Booth Love” into “Andy’s Last Beer.” “Hurt Bird Bath” came next ahead of “In The Kitchen” to close out the first frame.

The second set got underway with “Smell The Mitten,” which had a Jetsons tease, “All In Time” then got into “The Weights Around.” Billy Strings came out for a shred on “Great American” and stayed on for “Phil’s Farm.” Brendan Bayliss brought Billy out with a nod to Jeff Austin, who introduced the UM guitarist to Strings. The band continued with “1348″ ahead of “It Doesn’t Matter” into “All In Time” with a Roundabout tease closed things out. Check out the first and second sets below:
