Billy Strings To Stop Signing Autographs For eBay Flippers
Watch a video clip from Billy explaining the decision.
Billy Strings announced in a video posted to social media that he will no longer be signing autographs for eBay flippers. The guitarist stated the reason for the decision stemmed from non-fans seeking autographs to sell.
“It seems like anytime I go to an airport, or a hotel or anywhere really, it seems like I’m always met by these handfuls of ebayer people who may or may not be fans of mine, it’s really hard to tell sometimes,” Billy said in the video. “But they have mountains of vinyls and posters and pickguards and drum heads and microphones and fuckin…you name it, drum sticks…I don’t even play drums, that they want me to sign then they’ll turn around and sell it on ebay for $500.”
Billy went on to say that while he couldn’t “knock the hustle,” he felt that these people were “taking advantage” of him and his fans. “If you’re truly a fan and you want a record signed, I will sign it. I will sign you a poster, like one or two. I will take a picture with you. I’ll fuckin send your mom a happy birthday. I will pull out my guitar and play you a song right there at the airport but I’m not gonna sign 500 things anymore every time I fly. It’s just shitty…Here’s my message: I’m not signing 50 fucking things anymore. But if you’re a real fan and you want a picture or an autograph, I got your back. No problem. Peace and love.” Watch the full video below:
