The long-awaited 14th season of King Of The Hill premiered today on Hulu. Bluegrass star Billy Strings recorded a new version of the song that soundtracks the end credits for the first new episodes of the animated series in 15 years.

King Of The Hill’s instrumental theme song, “Yahoos and Triangles,” was composed and recorded by rock band The Refreshments. Episodes of past seasons have ended with The Refreshments’ reprise of “Yahoos and Triangles.” Strings laid down a bluegrass-fueled version of the reprise for the show’s reboot.

While attributed solely to Billy Strings, the new take on the reprise sounds like it also includes contributions from the guitarist’s bandmates — mandolinist Jarrod Walker, banjo player Billy Failing, bassist Royal Masat and fiddler Alex Hargreaves. Strings and company have jammed on the King Of The Hill theme song at past concerts, including at a show held at Leach Amphitheater in Oshkosh, Wisconsin on June 18, 2021.

The Refreshments changed their name to Roger Clyne and the Peacemakers in 1998 after contributing “Yahoos and Triangles” to King Of The Hill. The band continues to play the song and other Refreshments tunes live through the present.
