William Patrick Corgan, or Billy Corgan, began a tour in support of his solo album Ogilala at Murmrr in Brooklyn on Saturday and Sunday nights. Corgan’s Sunday show featured his first known cover of the Grateful Dead’s “Box Of Rain” and video of Billy’s version has surfaced.
The Smashing Pumpkins’ frontman began Sunday’s solo show in New York City with a set featuring renditions of songs from the recently released Ogilala. Corgan then delivered a career-spanning set that included such Smashing Pumpkins hits as “Disarm,” “Eye” and “1979” as well as “Friends As Lovers, Lovers As Friends” from his time in Zwan. The set also contained covers of Neil Young’s “After The Gold Rush” and “Box Of Rain” by the Grateful Dead. Billy then ended the evening with renditions of “For God & Country,” “Today” and “Soot & Stars.”
