Billboard Launches The Chip Hooper Award

This year’s Billboard Live Music Summit & Awards event will take place at the Montage Beverly Hills in Beverly Hills, California on November 13 and 14. Billboard’s awards ceremony will include the presentation of a new award named in honor of late music industry legend Chip Hooper.

Chip Hooper helped guide the touring careers of Phish, the Dave Matthews Band, moe. and many other acts as their personal agent. Hooper was the worldwide head of music at Paradigm Talent Agency which he joined after the company purchased Monterey Peninsula Artists. Sadly, Chip Hooper died from cancer at age 53 in 2016. Billboard will present the Chip Hooper Award to “a young rising star working as an executive in artist representation, management or concert promotion.” Nominations should be submitted to nominations@billboard.com by October 2.
