Legendary basketball player/commentator Bill Walton is among the most famous Grateful Dead fans and has brought up his favorite band plenty of times on broadcasts. An example took place last night, when Walton spent three minutes talking about Bob Dylan and the Dead.

As pointed out by USA Today, Walton spoke for three minutes about Dylan’s now famous speech at last weekend’s MusicCares event and recalled the night in 1989 when Bob sat in with the Grateful Dead during last night’s USC vs. Oregon college basketball matchup. Watch how it went down:

ESPN even prepped a graphic for the segment which you could see above. The show Walton mentions took place at The Forum on February 12, 1989 when Dylan sat in on “Memphis Blues.”
