Bill Walton Participating In Grateful Dead ‘Shakedown Stream’ Pre-Show

Legendary basketball player and longtime Deadhead Bill Walton will be among the participants in a pre-show for tonight’s installment of the Grateful Dead‘s Shakedown Stream video series. Walton will take questions from fans at 8 p.m. ET/5 p.m. PT tonight, Friday, April 17 before a screening of The Grateful Dead Movie.
Bill will be joined by Grateful Dead archivist David Lemieux and historian Gary Lambert for the pre-show. Fans can send in questions using this form. Walton will also discuss his Bike For Humanity virtual bike ride to benefit others during the coronavirus crisis.

The Grateful Dead Movie focuses on the band’s five-show run at San Francisco’s Winterland in October 1974. Jerry Garcia directed the film, which was released in 1977, with Leon Gast. The 132-minute movie begins with a wild animated sequence put together by Gary Gutierrez.
