Bill Frisell Shares ‘Valentine’ Title Track

Guitarist Bill Frisell unveiled “Valentine,” the title track of his forthcoming album. Valentine is set for release via Blue Note Records on August 21.

The 13-track album features Bill Frisell with bassist Thomas Morgan and drummer Rudy Royston. Lee Townshend produced and Tucker Martine recorded the LP. Frisell, Morgan and Royston tracked Valentine at Martine’s Flora Recording facility in Portland, Oregon.

“Valentine” is one of eight originals featured on the album. Additional tracks include covers of Boubacar Traore’s “Baba Drame,” Billy Strayhorn’s “A Flower Is A Lovesome Thing,” Billy Hill & Peter DeRose’s “Wagon Wheels” and Burt Bacharach & Hal David’s “What The World Needs Now Is Love” as well as a take on the traditional “We Shall Overcome.” Stream “Valentine” below:
