Bill Callahan and Bonnie “Prince” Billy’s (Will Oldham) series of cover releases continues with “Miracles” by Johnnie Frierson. Guitarist Ty Segall was recruited to contribute to the recording.

“Miracles” was included on Frierson’s self-released, 1990s album Have You Been Good To Yourself, which was posthumously reissued by Light In The Attic in 2016. The cover joins recently shared Callahan/Oldham covers of songs by Yusuf/Cat Stevens, Steely Dan, Billie Eilish, Jerry Jeff Walker, Little Feat, Lou Reed and more.

“This song is the best representation of the joy it has been to make these songs with Bill and other friends/idols,” Oldham wrote on Instagram. “In ‘Miracles’ we’re treated to a unique moment in the trajectory of Callahan’s vocalizations, a bonafide falsetto yowl of pleased determination. This listener gets a full vaccination against the sickness-unto-death every time we hear it. Thank you, Ty.”
