Bikini Kill Offers Rousing ‘Rebel Girl’ For Late Night Television Debut On ‘Colbert’

Renowned punk rockers Bikini Kill made their late night television debut as the musical guest on Monday’s episode of The Late Show With Stephen Colbert. The quartet tore through the 1993 single, “Rebel Girl,” in advance of their upcoming North American tour.
Bikini Kill’s current lineup features founding members frontwoman Kathleen Hanna, bassist Kathi Wilcox and drummer Tobi Vail joined by guitarist Sara Landeau. The iconic band was active from 1990 through 1997 and after getting back together for one song in 2017 formally reunited in 2019.

“Rebel Girl” was written by Hanna, Wilcox, Vail and founding guitarist Billy Karren. The song was purportedly debuted live in 1991. Bikini Kill put out three versions in 1993 including a single produced by and featuring Joan Jett.

Bikini Kill kicks off their North American Tour on August 15 with the first of two shows at The Wiltern in Los Angeles. The group will cross the continent before ending the trek on September 12 in Baltimore.
