Big Thief guitarist Buck Meek shared two new singles, “Cuero Dudes” and “Beauty Opens Doors.” The tracks are part of the Haunted Mountain universe, Meek’s third solo album released in 2023, around which the singer-songwriter is set to tour early this year.
Haunted Mountain arrived on August 25 via 4AD to critical acclaim. The Associated Press called the record “[a] lovely fusion of twang and rock with prime songwriting that works to define the art of caring.”

The Texas-born Buck Meek captured Haunted Mountain at renowned recording facility Sonic Ranch in Tornillo, Texas. The two new singles stem from those sessions with “Cuero Dudes” a bopping reworking of Haunted Mountain single “Cyclades.”
While “Beauty Opens Doors” was tracked during the Haunted Mountain sessions, Meek felt it didn’t fit the record but was fond of the tune. The shimmering track now sees the light of day.
