The Big Climate Thing Lineup: Khruangbin, HAIM, The Roots & More
The new three-day festival is set for September 16 - 18 in Queens, New York.
Khruangbin, HAIM and The Roots are among the acts on the inaugural The Big Climate Thing lineup. The new event in support of Brian Eno’s Earth/Support nonprofit organization will take place at Forest Hills Stadium in Queens, New York on September 16 – 18.
Presented by Climate Control Projects, the three-day festival will feature both musical performances, talks, immersive on-site activations and curated content with the aim of raising awareness around the global climate crisis. Sheryl Crow, The Flaming Lips, Gary Clark Jr., Courtney Barnett and Princess Nokia are more of the acts aboard for The Big Climate Thing. Special guests are expected.
The Big Climate Thing comes at the start of Climate Week NYC. “The purpose of the event is to serve as a unified call to action for artists, fans and the music industry itself,” a representative for Climate Control Projects explained to Pitchfork. “The event is focused on creating an inclusive community that centres a message of climate justice. By that we mean, those least responsible for causing climate change are paying the highest price of its catastrophic effects, and that climate change exacerbates existing inequities such as income inequality, housing and food insecurity, systemic racism, and gender inequality.”
Tickets go on sale to the general public this Thursday, June 30 at 10 a.m. ET. Buy The Big Climate Thing tickets on AXS.com.
