Beyoncé’s ‘Cowboy Carter’ Takes Center Stage At Christmas NFL Halftime Show

Beyoncé threw down a spectacular 12-minute performance in her hometown of Houston on Christmas during halftime of the Houston Texans game against Baltimore Ravens at NRG Stadium. The guest-filled “Beyoncé Bowl” show saw the singer perform several songs from her country album, Cowboy Carter, live for the first time.

Beyoncé made her grand entrance in a pre-recorded segment atop a white stallion in matching white fur and cowboy hat, opening with Cowboy Carter’s “16 Carriages” before gracefully dismounting. She then transitioned into “Blackbird,” welcoming fellow artists Tanner Adell, Tiera Kennedy, Reyna Roberts and Brittney Spencer to sing the Beatles classic with her.

The medley rolled on live in the center of the field with a rousing “Ya Ya” with nearly 200 members of Texas Southern University’s Ocean of Soul Marching Band bringing the energy to a massive peak. Beyoncé was also joined by the Texans Cheerleaders and dancers. Live debuts continued with “My House” and a medley of Cowboy Carter cuts “Spaghettii,” “Riiverdance” and “Sweet Honey Buckiin.” Shaboozey was featured on the latter before Post Malone lent a hand on “Levii’s Jeans.”

Beyoncé made full use of the field as she sang Dolly Parton’s “Jolene” from the back of a convertible. The Houston native then delivered the live premiere of Cowboy Carter single “Texas Hold ‘Em” with help from dancers including her 12-year-old daughter Blue Ivy. “Merry Christmas, God bless y’all, thank you so much,” Beyoncé proclaimed to end the spectacle.
