Benevento Russo Duo :: 12.27.16 :: Threes Brewing :: Brooklyn, NY

Last night at Threes Brewing in Brooklyn, for the first time in six years, Sir Joe Russo and Marco Benevento played together as the Benevento Russo Duo. Rumored for a couple of days and officially announced yesterday around 4 p.m., the intimate room was packed to the brim with fans as the show started.

Both of them jokingly told the crowd to hold their expectations, but the crowd was hearing none of that and were loud all night. The music sounded great and Joe and Marco were clearly having a blast. They played a number of fan favorites including “Play Pause Stop,” “Something For Rockets,” “Big Whopper” and “Becky” and they threw in some covers as well, the most memorable being a tribute to George Michael with “Faith” that had the crowd singing along.

There was little room to dance, but no one could be heard complaining about it. Seeing these two in such a small venue was a holiday treat for everyone. At the end of the night Marco, egged on by the crowd, gave a short thank you speech and then said see you next year before dipping into “Mephisto.” And for those who weren’t there, the night was being recorded for all to enjoy soon.
