Death Cab for Cutie frontman Ben Gibbard devoted Thursday’s installment of his weekly Live From Home livestream to Beatles covers. Proceeds from the all-Beatles cover set went to Seattle-based non-profit Amara, an organization that helps kids in foster care and the families that take them in.
Ben kicked off the 40-minute livestream with The White Album gem “I’m So Tired” and “For No One” off Revolver. Gibbard noted the mid-1960s was his favorite period of the Beatles and he continued on with “I’m Happy Just To Dance With You” from 1964’s A Hard Day’s Night as well as Revolver’s “Here, There & Everywhere” and “I’m Only Sleeping.”
A Q&A session followed in which Gibbard detailed his favorite post-Beatles album from a member of the group and told a story of taking a flight with one of the Fab Four. Ben then moved over to piano for “You Won’t See Me,” a track the Beatles recorded for 1965’s Rubber Soul as well as “I Will” off The White Album. Next, the Seattle resident discussed Amara, the organization benefitting from the livestream. Gibbard returned to acoustic guitar and Rubber Soul to end the set with “I’m Looking Through You” and “In My Life.” Watch Ben Gibbard’s all-Beatles set below:
