Bela Fleck Among Warren Haynes’ Guests In Nashville

Last night Warren Haynes brought the Ashes & Dust Tour to the historic Ryman Auditorium in Nashville, where he and the Ashes & Dust Band (Jeff Sipe and ChessBoxer) were joined by a bevy of special guests including another former ABB guitarist and a banjo legend.
Harmonica wiz Mickey Raphel of Willie Nelson’s Family Band was the first guest to sit-in. Raphael emerged early in the show to help out on “Wanderlust.” Later, singer-songwriter Chris Stapleton lent a hand on a cover of “Where Did You Sleep Last Night?” aka “In The Pines.” Warren’s old friend Bela Fleck then showed off his banjo skills on a pair of Bob Dylan covers – “Tough Mama” and “All Along The Watchtower.” Raphael came back out a little later for yet another Dylan tune, “You Ain’t Going Nowhere.”

Jack was on hand last night and dueled it out with Warren on the ABB classic “Blue Sky.” Pearson returned for the encore, a cover of Tom Waits’ “Get Behind The Mule” that also featured Gill Landry and Raphael. Next up for Haynes is a performance at the Cask & Drum Festival in Avondale, Alabama on Saturday.
