The Word are currently in the middle of their most extensive tour since 2002. Tonight, the supergroup – which features keyboardist John Medeski, sacred steel specialist Robert Randolph and The North Mississippi Allstars, bring the tour to Concord Music Hall in Chicago before heading east for performances in Millvale, Pennsylvania (10/13); Washington, D.C. (10/14); Glenside, Pennsylvania (10/15); New York City (10/16) and Boston (10/17).

On Friday, The Word performed at the Boulder Theater in Boulder, Colorado. In Boulder, the five-piece focused on material from their first album in over 14 years, Soul Food, including Cody’s “New Word Order,” Robert’s “Chocolate Cowboy” and the collaborative “Come By Here.” The Word’s self-titled debut was also well represented by such songs as “At The Cross,” “Waiting On My Wings” and “Call Him By His Name.” The group even worked a cover of “Lovelight” into the mix.

Keyboardist John Medeski of The Word shot a pair of videos featuring his band mates jamming out backstage and has shared them exclusively with JamBase. Take a look:
