Electric Forest :: 6.23.16 :: Double JJ Ranch :: Rothbury, MI
This year’s installment of the Electric Forest festival began on Thursday in Rothbury, Michigan. By allowing festivalgoers to start entering on Wednesday, the lines were short yesterday. The weather was great outside of a short rain shower in the morning which kept the dust down through mid-day. Attendees were greeted by new art installations this year and several stages received all new backdrops and stage signs. In addition, a Games Room was added to the Hanger Stage which included bowling, a couple of pool tables, ping-pong and a ’50s style candy shop.
Ohio jam act The Werks got the music started early by performing for VIPs on Wednesday. A huge turnout showed up for Paper Diamond in the late afternoon on Thursday, while The Polish Ambassador debuted a new purple jumpsuit as he got the crowd dancing. The Disco Biscuits persevered through sound system issues early in a set that featured a lengthy “Helicopters” sequence with many songs in between including a cover of LCD Soundsystem’s “Home.” The String Cheese Incident plays their first of three performances tonight, but side project EOTO filled the Jubilee Stage area to the brim.
