Beck Honors Prince In Minneapolis

By Scott Bernstein Sep 14, 2018 2:31 pm PDT

Last night’s Beck show in Minneapolis featured a tribute to the late great Prince. Beck performed a cover of The Purple One’s “Take Me With U” during an acoustic portion of the evening at The Armory in Prince’s hometown.

Prince & The Revolution recorded “Take Me With U” for their landmark 1984 album Purple Rain. Beck was joined by three members of his band for the unplugged rendition of “Take Me With U.” He followed the performance by telling the crowd, “We had to do that…for the purple scripture.”

Thursday’s concert was heavy on material from 2017’s Colors including the title track, “Dreams,” “Up All Night,” “Wow” and “I’m So Free.” Beck also treated the capacity crowd to some of his best known songs such as “The New Pollution,” “Loser” and “Where It’s At.” As usual, “Where It’s At” contained band introductions and snippets of various covers.
