Bear Creek Bayou Organizers Unveil Initial 2016 Lineup

Organizers of the Bear Creek Music & Arts Festival will host the inaugural Bear Creek Bayou music festival September 30 – October 1 in New Orleans. Bear Creek Bayou will take place at Mardi Gras World in the heart of New Orleans’ Warehouse District. Today, the initial lineup for the first-ever Bear Creek Bayou has been revealed.

Festival favorites The Flaming Lips have been tapped to headline Bear Creek Bayou ’16. Wayne Coyne and Co. will be joined by a bevy of veterans from Bear Creek’s days in Florida such as Karl Denson’s Tiny Universe, Lettuce, Soulive, Dumpstaphunk and The Nth Power. Lettuce and Dumpstaphunk will each perform twice as will Foundation Of Funk featuring George Porter Jr., Zigaboo Modeliste, John Medeski and Eddie Roberts. Other acts set to Bear Creek Bayou include The Floozies, Lotus, Papadosio, Earphunk, Zach Deputy and Flowtribe. Bassist Tony Hall will present “New Orleans Soul Stars Tribute To James Brown,” while Modeliste will also perform with The Funk Review.

A number of Artists-At-Large for the fall event have also been named: Pee Wee Ellis, John Medeski, George Porter Jr., Chali 2NA, Jennifer Hartswick, Natalie Cressman and Skerik. An official pre-party will feature Soulive & Friends, OG GAT, Naughty Professor with Chali 2NA and Pirates Choice. Tickets are on sale now via Eventbrite.
