The Avett Brothers returned to 30 Rock as the musical guests on Wednesday’s edition of The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon. Seth Avett led the band through the rollicking “Love Of A Girl” from their new self-titled studio album.

Produced by Rick Rubin, The Avett Brothers arrived via Ramsuer Records/American Recordings/Thirty Tigers this past Friday, May 17. The nine-track LP is the band’s first record since the release of Closer Than Together in 2019.

The Avett Brothers’ visit to Fallon took place just days after the band revealed their Swept Away musical is coming to Broadway this fall. The group led by siblings Seth Avett and Scott Avett were joined by members of the cast to perform the production’s title track during their concert on Friday night at Forest Hills Stadium in Queens.

“Love Of A Girl” is a high-energy romp in which Seth and Scott sing a hooky chorus of “Never find him waiting patient/For someone to come explain it/Why he suffers so/Well it’s all for the love of a girl.” Seth Avett delivered an effusive guitar solo towards the end of the song, which is the second track on The Avett Brothers. “That is how you do it right there!” Jimmy Fallon exclaimed as he greeted the band at the end of the song.
