Candler Park Music & Food Festival :: 06.01-02.18
:: Candler Park :: Atlanta

The 2018 Candler Park Music & Food Festival was held in Atlanta’s Candler Park this past Friday and Saturday. While thunderstorms led to a truncated schedule on Friday, the event did host sets from funk stalwarts Lettuce and Keller Williams’ PettyGrass featuring The Hillbenders. Thankfully, the weather allowed for a full day of action on Saturday. Local favorites Webster, Montreal-based nine-piece Busty & The Bass and Vermont jam act Twiddle were among those to play Candler Park ’18 during the day on Saturday.

Performances from Charleston’s SUSTO and Americana rock act Houndmouth were followed by a marathon Gov’t Mule set on Saturday. Warren Haynes & Co. mixed material from 2017’s Revolution Come…Revolution Go with classics throughout the night including a version of “Sco-Mule” featuring “Smoke On The Water” within. The quartet also worked a bit of Van Morrison’s “Tupelo Honey” into “Soulshine.” For the encore, Gov’t Mule was joined by guitarist Benji Shanks of Kristian Bush’s band and Cowboy guitarist Tommy Talton for a rendition of The Allman Brothers Band’s “Melissa” that contained a “Mountain Jam” excursion. Photographer Ian Rawn was on hand and captured the action at this year’s Candler Park Music & Arts Festival. Check out a full gallery of his work below followed by a pair of videos from the event:
