Arlo Parks Brings ‘Ambiguous Desire’ Standout ‘Beams’ To ‘Fallon’

Arlo Parks appeared on last night’s episode of The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon. The British singer-songwriter performed “Beams” off her new album Ambiguous Desire.
Produced by Baird, Parks’ third LP arrived on April 3 via Transgressive Records. “Beams” was among the album’s advance singles and Arlo detailed the song in a social media post.
“‘Beams’ to me is a song about choosing yourself after maybe being made to feel like you weren’t enough or there was something about you that was wrong in a way,” she said. “I think it’s probably one of the most vulnerable songs on the record. And it’s one that kind of helped pull myself out from a difficult place almost as I was writing it. There are certain songs that feel like therapy, that feel like healing in public.”
Musically, “Beams” is remenscient of early British trip hop and club music. Watch Arlo Parks perform the song on Fallon below:
