Arcade Fire Welcomes Florence Welch and Boy George in London

On Friday night Arcade Fire continued their European tour by closing out a three-night run at The SSE Arena, Wembley in London, England. As they did on the previous two nights in London the Montreal-based band invited some guests to sit in with them this time welcoming out a pair of local heroes to each play their signature song. Last night’s guests featured a 1980s pop icon and the lead singer of the arguably one of the most popular acts in the U.K. in the last decade

Towards the back third of their main set, the Arcade Fire welcomed out their first guest of the night as Florence Welch emerged. The Florence + The Machine frontwoman, who yesterday announced the release of her band’s first new music since 2016, led Arcade Fire through a take of their biggest hit: “Dog Days Are Over” from their 2009 debut Lungs.

During their encore, the Canadian rockers invited out their second guest of the night as Boy George joined them on stage as they paired up on a take on Culture Club’s “Karma Chameleon.” The tune from the New Wave band’s 1983 sophomore album Colour By Numbers was a worldwide mega-hit and the biggest selling single in the U.K. that year along with being Culture Club’s only single to hit number one in the United States.
