Following an unannounced appearance in New Orleans Saturday night, Arcade Fire performed in the city again Sunday night as headliners of the 2016 Voodoo Music + Arts Experience. The appearance featured a familiar setlist, though the band did work in a bit of Halloween fun during their first fully public performance since July.
The song selection was much the same as previous shows Arcade Fire has played this year, “Ready To Start” from the 2010 LP The Suburbs opening the night. It was followed by fellow album tracks “The Suburbs,” “The Suburbs (Continued)” and “Sprawl II (Mountains Beyond Mountains).” Frontman Win Butler then led the ensemble through the a string of songs from 2013’s Reflektor, including the title track, “Afterlife,” “We Exist” and “Normal Person.” At another point in the set, Butler instructed the crowd to repeatedly chant “Na Na Na,” indicating it was being recorded for the band’s next album. He also chastised BP and spoke out in support of the City Of New Orleans.
