Sideways Horns Join Aqueous At Rescheduled New Year’s Eve Concert In Buffalo

Aqueous made up their postponed New Year’s Eve concert at the Town Ballroom in their hometown of Buffalo, New York on Friday. The band welcomed the Sideways Horns from Rochester-based band The Sideways for the second set and encore as well as fitting in an original bust out and cover debut.

Aqueous released a statement when they had to postpone their NYE concert saying, “We had some exciting stuff up our sleeves for this show, but we promise to make it up to y’all even harder when we do the make up show.” The groove quartet certainly made good on that promise, getting things underway with an expansive “All In” which stretched to around 23 minutes and contained a tease from fellow Buffalo-bred band with elements of the moe. classic “Rebubula.”

Aqueous then dusted off “Dr. Brox” for the first time since playing it in Buffalo on December 30, 2018. Aqueous gave the bust out a healthy rendition at over 14 minutes. Staple “Gordon’s Mule” then prefaced a nearly 17-minute “Mind Games” to complete the four-song frame.

The four-piece returned to the stage with the Sideways Horns in tow to kick off the second set with the relatively new tune “Good Days.” Next came substantial renditions of “Numbers and Facts” and “Aldehyde” before the band unveiled a cover of the Peter Gabriel classic “Sledgehammer,” a great choice with the horn section.

After “Sledgehammer,” the band then offered “Auld Land Syne” for the rescheduled NYE show before “Realize Your Light” proceeded set closer “Weight Of the Word.” Aqueous and the Sideways Horns returned to encore with “Be The Same.”
