‘Back To Black’: Watch 1st Trailer For Amy Winehouse Biopic
The highly-anticipated film arrives in U.S. theaters on May 10.

Late singer Amy Winehouse‘s tragically short life is the focus of Back To Black, an upcoming biopic due out from StudioCanal and Monumental Pictures in the U.S. on May 10. A teaser trailer offering the first look at the film, which stars Marisa Abela as the iconic singer, was released today.
Directed by Sam Taylor-Johnson (Fifty Shades Of Grey), Back To Black follows of the rise and fall of the British soul singer who sadly died from accidental alcohol poisoning at age 27 in 2011. The Winehouse Estate has given its full support to the film with her music used courtesy of Universal Music Group and Sony Music Publishing.

The teaser trailer runs just over a minute and includes scenes from both Winehouse’s professional and personal life. Penned by Matt Greenhalgh (Nowhere Boy), Abela is joined in the cast by Eddie Marsan and Juliet Cowan as Amy’s father and mother, Mitch and Janis, Lesley Manville as Amy’s grandmother, Cynthia, and Jack O’Connell as Winehouse’s one-time husband Blake Fielder-Civil.

An unflinching look at the modern celebrity machine and a powerful tribute to a once-in-a-generation talent.”
