Amy Helm, the daughter of co-founding The Band member Levon Helm, released her group’s take on The Band’s “Twilight” to kick off #TheBandTogether video series. The singer-songwriter aims to raise funds for non-profits while lifting spirits during the coronavirus COVID-19 pandemic.

Helm asks that musicians/bands record a cover of their favorite The Band or Levon Helm song and then tag the resulting video with the hashtag #thebandtogether and @levonhelmstudios. Amy also suggests including a link to a non-profit helping those in need during the COVID-19 crisis and to challenge a few musical friends to participate. Helm and the Levon Helm Studios team will share their favorites.

Amy Helm chose “Twilight,” a song The Band released as a single in 1975. Helm was taught “Twilight” by The Band bassist Rick Danko on her 21st birthday. Hiss Golden Messenger, Birds Of Chicago, The Wood Brothers, Thundercat, Harry Styles and Stevie Nicks have been challenged by Amy Helm to participate in #TheBandTogether. Amy picked Family Of Woodstock as the non-profit organization for which she’s asking for donations. Watch Amy Helm’s version of “Twilight” below:
